People who communicate with their cats by getting to know their social cues and motives are also more attractive to their cat companions.
This is why it is important to respect your cat’s personal space and needs and look for communication cues but remember research has shown that cats don’t recognize their owners by sight.
Human faces may all look pretty similar to cats because cats are color-blind and near-sighted.
Cats identify humans based on scent and sound, a study conducted by scientists at the University of Tokyo found that cats can recognize recordings of their owner’s voices and tell them apart from strangers’ voices.
The cats in the study mostly ignored the recordings of strangers’ voices but twitched their ears to listen more closely to their owner’s voice.
Of course, none of the felines in the study actually got up to look for their absent owners because cats know better than to give up a good napping spot.
Do cats learn their own names, and know many things like how to catch mice?
what the sound of the can opener means or how to get your attention?
Do cats recognize their own names?

An ability that’s well known in dogs, a study published in the journal scientific reports shows that cats do know their names even when it is called by a stranger.
In fact, cats may also know the names of the people living in their households.
To obtain their findings scientists from Kyoto University asked both owners and strangers to call the cat’s name and then videotaped responses that would indicate recognition such as head and ear movements and tail swishing.
Researchers discovered that cats showed a meaningful response to their own names even after hearing similar-sounding words or the names of other felines living in the home.
Interestingly, the cats in the study showed interest not only when their owners called their names but even when strangers did.
This study suggests that cats are just as good as dogs at learning they’re just not as kin to show their owners what they’ve learned.
Why cats don’t respond to us?
If your cat recognizes your voice why do they ignore you when you call its name? believe it or not, your cat is responding to you but you don’t notice because the recognition is very subtle.
A cat won’t necessarily come running into a room like a dog, instead, it will twitch its ears or tilt its head slightly which denotes that they have acknowledged your voice and are getting on with its business.
Don’t take this personally as your feline friend is not ignoring you, the lack of obvious reaction indicates that your feline friend recognizes your voice and feels safe.
This should be deemed a compliment as the behavior suggests a secure attachment, your cat trusts you and would be startled if it didn’t do so next time.
when your kitty ignores you when you come home take comfort in knowing that your cat loves you and they will find you and come to you when they are ready.
Do cats miss their owners?

Research has shown that cats feel safer and more secure when their owners are around and may even experience stress and separation anxiety when their owners are gone.
In one study, scientists brought cats and their owners to an unfamiliar environment where they had never been before, for a few minutes they let the cat and the owner be together in the room.
After that, the owner left the room and the cat was alone for two minutes, scientists found that two minutes alone was a phase of stressor milestone to cats indicating that a majority of cats are securely attached to their owners.
Another study published in the journal current biology found that; cats form attachments to their owners similar to those that dogs and even babies form with their caregivers.
Cats see their owners as a source of comfort and security in other words cats do miss and love you even if they don’t show it.
It’s important to remember that cats have plenty of different personality types when left alone at home, some cats sit by the window and wait patiently for you to come back.
Other cats may show signs of separation anxiety such as excessive vocalization, pacing, trying to escape and eliminating outside of the litter box..
Keep in mind that, although cats are independent and strong animals they can also be delicate and sensitive without the sense of security provided by their Guardians.
Many abandoned felines may not know how to fend for themselves and survive, they may stop drinking and eating and their problems can be compounded by the psychological effects and stress of Abandonment.
So next time you see your kitty happily and hungrily scarfing down their dinner, take comfort in knowing that your cat really loves you.
can cats sense our mood?
Cats are not only capable of recognizing and perceiving our moods but they are affected by them.
Our felines spend large parts of their day analyzing us and reacting against our emotions and changing their behavior according to how we feel in the moment.
For example, a study by Oakland University researchers revealed that cats are more likely to show positive behaviors such as purring If they see that their owner is smiling.
Frowning on the other hand was met with less enthusiasm, so if you think your cat is more likely to lie on your chest or rub up on your legs when you’re feeling blue it’s not just your imagination, your faithful furry friend is probably responding to your mood.
Furthermore, Studies have indicated that cats look to humans for cues about whether a situation is concerning or not and may follow human body language for clues and problem-solving.
how long can a cat remember a person?
It’s one thing to recognize you but you might also be wondering if your feline friend remembers you, especially if you have been separated for any reason.
While it’s impossible to put an exact time on how long a cat’s memory can go back to
It’s believed that a cat’s long-term memory is indefinite there are many stories of cats recognizing their owners many years later.
A cat will smell the person he hasn’t seen for years and the memory of who that individual is will come back to them.
Keep in mind that cats have associative memories so, it is important to share pleasant experiences with your cats to ensure they remember you in a positive manner.
Associative memory is why you shouldn’t punish your cat for scratching the couch, your pet won’t have any idea why you’re angry at them but they will associate your action with negative emotions and they will remember it.
Do cats understand we love them when we kiss them?
If you kiss a cat even if she doesn’t understand the traditional definition of the action she will likely appreciate the gesture and feel loved.
A human touch goes a long way with cats, felines often adore attention and interaction.
Studies have shown that cats love being able to spend time with their owners, and cats with a secure attachment to their Guardians like receiving attention.
So giving them Kisses will make them feel happy and memorable.
