Los Angeles – To celebrate the start of LA Fashion Week (October 18–22), Ava Dash—model and daughter of music producer Damon Dash and fashion designer Rachel Roy—will release a head-turning new look of her own. Encouraging people to choose luxurious vegan accessories instead of cruel reptile skins, she appears nude in a campaign for PETA, which will greet attendees today at NYA Studios.

“There’s really no point in having influence in this world if you’re not going to use it for good and to speak out about the things that you care about,” says Dash. “PETA and I are encouraging everyone to choose beautiful, compassionate vegan materials.”

A PETA Asia investigation reveals that slaughterhouses electroshock crocodiles and shove metal rods into their heads in an attempt to scramble their brains, and other video footage shows that nails are driven into snakes’ heads while they’re still conscious. Another PETA Asia investigation revealed that workers in a slaughterhouse that supplies Gucci struck live lizards with a machete and made multiple attempts to behead the animals.

Chanel, Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, Burberry, HUGO BOSS, Vivienne Westwood, and Calvin Klein have all banned exotic skins from their products. PETA is calling on Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Armani, Gucci, and Prada to join them.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org, listen to The PETA Podcast, or follow the group on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, or Instagram.
