Vegan ‘Laughing Cow’ Cheese? It’s Hitting Stores Soon

[ad_1]

French dairy company Bel Group—which owns Boursin, Babybel, and The Laughing Cow—has launched yet another vegan cheese. The Laughing Cow plant-based cheese is available at Whole Foods stores in two tasty flavors: Original and Garlic & Herb. Both contain individually wrapped wedges of creamy, spreadable vegan cheese perfect for packing in lunches or enjoying as a midday snack.

The new offering follows the launch of two other vegan versions of Bel Group’s iconic cheeses. Boursin Dairy-Free Cheese Spread Alternative debuted in stores in 2020 and has been a hit ever since, expanding to several grocery chains, including Trader Joe’s and Sprouts.

Babybel cheese also got a cow-friendly makeover in early 2022, and it even features a peelable green wax coating to set it apart from the dairy version, which comes with red wax packaging. The massive success of these two launches encouraged Bel Group to expand its vegan offerings with The Laughing Cow wedges.

The move shows that there’s no need to use cows to create delicious, creamy, and satisfying cheese. Cows are loving, playful individuals who make milk for their babies, not for humans. The dairy industry exploits and abuses mother cows, who only want to nurture their calves.

Workers on today’s farms take calves from their mothers—typically, days after birth—so that humans can drink their milk and use it to make various other dairy-based items, including cheese.

By choosing vegan cheese like the new Laughing Cow plant-based flavors and going vegan, you can help spare the lives of countless cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, and many other animals who are used for experimentation, food, clothing, or entertainment.
