Los Angeles – To celebrate her 56th birthday on March 30, Baywatch actor, model, and outspoken vegan Donna D’Errico is going back to basics in a bold new campaign for PETA urging everyone to stick to wearing one skin—their own—and leave animals in peace and in one piece.

“The reason that I don’t wear any animal products in my wardrobe or shoes or anything like that is just because I don’t want to have animals suffer,” D’Errico says in an accompanying video spot. “They can’t live without their fur, skin, or feathers, but we can.”

PETA entities have released scores of investigations exposing cruelty to animals exploited for clothing. Videos have revealed that workers hit, kick, and mutilate gentle sheep for their wool; leave sensitive goats with bloody, gaping wounds at mohair and cashmere operations; burn, electroshock, beat, and slaughter cows for leather; yank out the feathers of ducks and geese by the fistful for down; and imprison minks and other animals in filthy wire cages on fur factory farms. Fortunately, eco- and animal-friendly vegan materials are widely available at retailers everywhere, and PETA’s “How to Wear Vegan” guide can help anyone make their wardrobe animal-free.

“Choose vegan. Choose kindness,” D’Errico says in conclusion. “And wear your own skin.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
